"Save As" for "Scheme" n save a copy of th default scheme, eg "Nick CF (Default copy)"
click "Apply"
Appearance & Behavior > Appearance
check "Override default fonts by (not recommended):"
Name: i selected "Menlo"
Size: 16
click "Apply"

NOTE: essential comment that helped me solve this.
The best place to *find* answers to programming/development questions, imo, however it's the *worst* place to *ask* questions (if your first question/comment doesn't get any up-rating/response, then u can't ask anymore questions--ridiculously unrealistic), but again, a great reference for *finding* answers.
